Claire's Press Day

This press day was one with a difference, I actually worked on it. I'm currently interning for Exposure PR who look after Claire's and I helped at their press day this season! It was a wonderful experience and I had a great day. So from both sides of the glass at the Powder Rooms in Soho, here's what I got up to...

Well to start with, breakfast was nothing short of heavenly. A selection of pastries and cakes which, if I'm honest, the clients weren't eating enough of, so I helped a little. In between scoffing my face and making tea for the journalists and stylists, I simply had to share these with you.

The collection below is the Cold Weather collection, complete with last season's cute little bear hats with furry ears which were very on trend for high street stores, along with faux fur stoles which look surprisingly expensive to say their low price points. Lots of knits carrying through the brights trend from SS11 into Autumn/Winter complete with pom poms and tassles.

The next collection was suitably surrounded by a glorious display of flowers fit for the Chelsea Flower Show. They were sourced from by Liberty and provided a perfect framing for the Ladylike collection and it's vintage dresser. There were cosmetics in romantically printed packages and dainty accessories fit for a princess. This collection was slightly less grown up than the rest, but we have to remember who Claire's main customers are, and they are indeed the slightly less grown up versions of ourselves. (Who didn't buy their first pair of earrings from Claire's?) Ladylike is for the five year old in all of us.

This was my favourite hat, I'm not one to turn down a good fedora, especially in these rich autumnal shades.

The Glam Rock collection has got some of the chicest designs I've ever seen from Claire's. The quality is much better than most high street stores, not naming names! And take inspiration direct from the catwalks, in some cases, maybe a little too directly in some cases, but nonetheless they are gorgeous!

Here are some other bits and pieces from the rest of the day. It's safe to say that Claire's is succeeding in changing it's brand image from cheap to chic. The quality is much better than it used to be and the designers are clearly heading in the right direction by looking at high fashion trends. I'd never have considered Claire's as an option for accessories until seeing the brand's new identity, but now I have completely changed my opinion! Go and see for yourself, I recommend it!
