Mulberry Pre Fall 2011

Here's another virginal event for the fashion industry, Mulberry's first ever Pre Fall collection!
Quintessentially English and true to form, creative director Emma Hill's inspiration for the collection was based on the haven on the English countryside.
This collection doesn't scream 'luxe', it gently whispers it, and lets the soft, embellished garments speak for themselves. The palette of rich autumnal shades alongside whipped creams and beige make you feel all 'cottagey', (a word I have coined purely to describe my feelings towards this collection!) although a contrast of navy blue and grey hues give off a whiff of eau-de-grown-up.

The close fitting bodice of the jackets are going to be a highly sought after look for Fall 2011, especially paired with flared and boot-cut trousers.
Accessories in this collection are minimal, but the scarves are an absolute essential to creating the perfect 'English country garden' image. Us Yorkshire girls love our Grandad scarves, and the ones on show here are a definite Fall must-have.

Further into the collection you begin to pick out the hidden details, such as the child-like oversized buttons, embossing and cut-out fabric on shorts and the classy zips and toggle fastenings on coats and jackets. The collars on coats are perfectly Peter Pan along with sharp yet subtle ones for the blazers.
If anything was a real heart throb for me in this collection, it was the bags. It's many a budding fashionista who dreams of owning a Mulberry bag and these ones made sure nothing changed that aspiration. Matching neutral tones in leather, with sleek chain handles and classic Mulberry fastenings. These pieces of 'shoulder candy' are one of the reasons I dream of becoming wealthy enough to own one someday.

Mulberry is staying true to it's English roots and relying heavily on it's heritage this year. The golden glamour peeks into the evening wear but retains that certain subtlety which Mulberry prides itself so preciously on. I'm positive that they will bring just as much effortless style into their Fall 2011 show.
