First it gets banned on Radio 1 for it's raunchy lyrics, now Rihanna's latest single 'S&M' is under fire from highly regarded fashion photographer David LaChapelle.
LaChapelle is suing Rihanna as he claims she has ripped off his images in her latest video for the 'S&M' single. He says she has directly copied eight of his images and that it imitated the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe, and lighting” of examples of his work.
The images aren't entirely identical, but Rihanna has clearly taken 'inspiration' from LaChapelle's work on this example. Isn't imitation the sincerest form on flattery? Maybe not when copyrights are at work.
May the best man win.
